What is a podiatrist?
A podiatrist is a healthcare professional specialized in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot and ankle conditions. They treat pain, biomechanical disorders, and skin and nail problems.
Are podiatric services covered by the RAMQ?
No. Podiatric services are generally not covered by the RAMQ. However, many private insurance plans reimburse part or all of the costs.
Do I need a medical referral to book an appointment?
No. You can book an appointment directly without a prescription or medical referral.
Can a podiatrist prescribe orthotics?
Yes. A podiatrist can assess your gait and posture and, if necessary, prescribe custom foot orthotics to correct alignment, improve comfort, and reduce pain.
